A long, crucial stretch of the long-awaited Atlanta Beltline is finally taking shape.
📰 What Happened: After more than two years of construction, the Southeast Trail—formerly Segments 4 and 5—on the Atlanta Beltline is visibly taking shape. The 1.2-mile stretch connects Glenwood Avenue to Boulevard, linking Grant Park, Ormewood Park, and Boulevard Heights. Beltline officials say the trail remains on track for a fall 2025 opening.
🔍 A Closer Look: Much of Segment 4 has been paved, bridge railings installed, and retaining walls and trail columns placed. Overall, key infrastructure—like the Ormewood Avenue bridge—is advancing. Meanwhile, TPA Residential is building 300 apartments and townhomes adjacent to the trail in Boulevard Heights, with the first units expected by early 2026.
🧠 Why It Matters: The 1.2-mile Trail is key to uniting several southeast Atlanta neighborhoods and extending the Beltline’s connectivity. As infrastructure and housing continue to develop in tandem, the Trail is slowly but surely transforming from a construction zone to a community asset—and it’s a sight for sore eyes.

The Southeast and Southside Trails are the only remaining segments under construction.
